Lent is a Christian annual period that starts on Ash Wednesday lasting for 40 days (not including Sundays) representing the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness. This 40-day period for Christians is a time to reflect, fast, and give penance in preparation for the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.

2023 Pastoral Letter
“God offered a permanent solution to the mystery of suffering when he sent his beloved son to rescue humanity through his own suffering. Thus, Jesus has become an answer to the problem of human suffering. He took up the brutal suffering of the cross, endured it in his human nature but used his divine nature to turn all suffering into the path of glory and salvation.”
Archbishop Valerian Okeke “The Hour of Glory: Suffering in the Life of a Christian” Pastoral Letter 2023.”
